Proof of concept
Early Access
This took me way longer than it should've. I faced some challenges. But at the end of the day, I didn't solve them XD I just found messy workarounds... Really nasty ones that is.
I got the core concept down. You have to collect socks on level pair by pair (as in in order red-red, yellow-yellow, samecolor-samecolor). When you move, your AI companion (rooba) also moves. They also collect socks, so they create a challenge for the player. The goal is to find a way to collect socks in the right order together with roobas.
The original idea for the story was exactly the same. The main character buys rooba, and decides to live with it instead of his girlfriend. I had some fun writing dialogue and drawing a rooba in a wedding dress XD Overall I like how the story turned out.
Levels need a redo. For some reason my head just wasn't working for creating level design when I was making them. So, they turned out rushed, very simple, and not challenging in my opinion. If you have any feedback that'd be great to hear.
Visuals need some love also. Currently the game is too simplistic, I need to add background and some animations. Also the game needs feedback for picking up socks, completing the level, better game over screen, more sfx, like for roobas moving, and etc.
I don't know when the next update will be. Right now I'm feeling sleepy, so maybe if I'll have time, I'll do some the next day. If I will be able to, because I'm leaving my city for a couple of days tomorrow.
Anyway, I'm really happy I finished the prototype. Even if people won't like this game, I still gathered a valuable experience, the one that I didn't have before. I really enjoyed the time I put into creating this game even if sometimes it felt like I was stupid, or Unity was, or we both were. I will keep on going creating more games.
To everybody else participating in the jam, good luck. I will definitely be rating your games after the ratings will be open.
